Platform comparison
FabriMatch vs Laserhub
Laserhub is a well-run German procurement platform for sheet metal, tubes, turning and milling, serving 13,000+ industrial customers across DACH and into Benelux and France. It is EUR-native and it is good at what it does — so the usual 'we are European, they are American' argument does not apply here. The real difference is structural: Laserhub is a reseller, FabriMatch is a marketplace.
Pick Laserhub when
- →You want one counterparty, one contract and one invoice, and you do not care which shop makes the part.
- →Your volumes sit inside DACH and you value a mature, deep supplier base over corridor breadth.
- →You want a supplier with years of delivery history behind it — we are early, and pretending otherwise would waste your time.
Pick FabriMatch when
- →You want to know which factory is making your part, and to build a relationship with it.
- →You want the 10% platform fee itemised on the offer before you accept — not a reseller price with the margin inside it.
- →You need access to Chinese capacity on the same platform, with the same EU invoice and the same protections.
- →Your part needs a material or process that a DACH-only network prices at a premium.
Feature-by-feature
Rows where Laserhub is the stronger choice are marked. If a comparison page tells you it wins everything, it is an advert, not a comparison.
| Feature | FabriMatch | Laserhub |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial model | Marketplace — you contract with the producer, we take a stated fee | Reseller — Laserhub is your counterparty and sets the price |
| Fee visibility | 10% shown on the offer before you accept, itemised on the invoice | Margin is inside the quoted price and is not separately disclosed |
| Who makes your part | Named, KYB-verified shop — visible before you order | Allocated within their network; not usually disclosed |
| Supplier network maturity | Early — we are building corridor density and we say so on the quote widget | ★ Mature DACH network, 13,000+ customers served |
| Geographic corridor | EU-27 buyers, producers in the EU and China on one platform | DACH-centred, expanded into AT/BE/FR/LU |
| Currency & invoicing | EUR, EU VAT, reverse charge, KSeF filing, DAC7 | EUR, German invoicing — solid for DACH entities |
| First-offer guarantee | 2h to a binding offer, or our fee is waived | Fast automated quoting; no published fee-backed remedy |
| Payment protection | We hold your payment until you approve the inspection | Standard B2B invoicing terms |

- FabriMatch holds your payment and releases it to the factory only after you approve the inspection.
- EUR settlement, EU-VAT-compliant invoicing, KSeF and DAC7 filing.
Frequently asked questions
Is Laserhub cheaper than FabriMatch?
On a given DACH sheet-metal part, often yes — a mature reseller with volume commitments can buy better than a young marketplace. What you cannot do with a reseller price is separate the production cost from the margin. FabriMatch shows the producer's price and our fee as two numbers, so your finance team can audit the COGS and you can see exactly what the intermediation costs. If you only care about the landed number today, compare both. If you care about knowing what you are paying for, that is the difference.
Laserhub is already European. What is the EU advantage you keep talking about?
Against Laserhub there isn't one, and we are not going to claim it. Both platforms invoice in EUR and understand EU VAT. Our EU compliance stack (KSeF, DAC7, reverse charge) matters against US platforms like Xometry and Fictiv, not against a German company. Against Laserhub the argument is fee transparency, knowing your producer, and having Chinese capacity on the same rails.
Why would I use a younger platform at all?
Two reasons, and only two. First, you want a direct, named relationship with the shop making your parts — reseller models deliberately abstract that away, and that abstraction is exactly what you cannot escalate through when a tolerance is wrong. Second, you want China and the EU quoted side by side on one platform with one invoice format and one set of protections. If neither of those matters to you, Laserhub is a sound choice.
Do you cover the same processes as Laserhub?
Largely: CNC milling and turning, sheet metal, laser and waterjet cutting, bending, welding, casting, forging, surface treatment and metal 3D printing. We deliberately do not cover plastics, electronics, textiles or packaging — the corridor is metal, and a narrower network that actually fits your part beats a broad directory that does not.
How do I check your supplier density before committing?
Upload a CAD file on the homepage without an account. The widget tells you how many KYB-verified shops run that material today, and if that number is thin it says so instead of dressing it up. Then send the RFQ and see whether a binding offer arrives inside the guarantee window. That is a two-hour test, and it costs you nothing.
